Why have we not learned?….?

In 1973, the US was hurt by the Arab oil embargo. Since, we have not built any new refineries, except for one, and do not drill for any more oil reserves. We’ve done nothing, including developing and establishing the use of alternative fuel sources, to ensure the functionality of our nation if someone chose to cut off our oil imports. In the age of Homeland Security, why isn’t this issue addressed as much as some color code of security?
Forgive me. We may be drilling. It seems I have missed that one. However, our refineries have kept up with the demand because we are still receiving the imports. Wouldn’t the supply be lower if the imports were stopped?

You need to do some research,I make my living in the oil and gas industry and work more every year. We are drilling you must not see it and adding refineries will not drop prices there is not a shortage of finished product

  5. We have not learned to develop alternative energy sources. Our government in collusion with oil companies and the auto industry stifled the development of solar power, wind power and hybrid engines for decades. It is only because Toyota developed and marketed a hybrid car and the internet has exposed many alternative power sources that the public has become aware and is now demanding the USA becomes energy independent.
